Our Pets
Cocoa Puff is a giant rabbit who brings big smiles to his family. Mom Lindsay Smith said she was amazed at how gentle and sweet the continental giant rabbit was from the moment she brought him home. Cocoa Puff hops around the house like any other member of the family and doesn't live in a cage. But Smith wants families to do their research before adopting these fluffy friends, especially around Easter. "They are not starter pets," she said. "Rabbits take more care than a dog or cat." #InsideEdition

Entertainment for cats and dogs and all rabbit lovers. One hour of wild Cottontail Rabbits doing what rabbits do. #MyBackyardBirding
There are a few things in this world that rabbits like more than a fresh meal.
In this video, we will discover 14 things rabbits love the most.
Bananas
Although many cartoons have misconstrued that rabbits are obsessed with carrots, the truth is that rabbits love bananas more than any other fruits in the world.
Small, dark hiding spots
Rabbits are prey animals and they find the most comfort in small, dark places where they can hide and feel safe. In their natural habitat, rabbits protect themselves from predators with underground tunnels they can run into and hide.
Make sure to make your rabbit a hideout, like a wooden house in the style of a small kennel, so that they can have alone time and feel safe when needed.
Chewing
Rabbitsโ teeth will grow continuously all their lives, and theyโre designed to be worn down to the right length by grinding away at food. In the wild, a rabbitโs buffet menu often includes hard vegetation such as hay, twigs, tree bark, and other material that requires lots of chewing. The extensive chewing keeps their growing teeth under control.
Spreading their scent
Like many other animals, rabbits are territorial creatures and they love marking their territory by spreading their scent.
In order to mark their territory, a rabbit will often do something called chinning.
Rabbits have scent glands under their chins. When they rub their chin against something, a tiny amount of their specific scent is deposited on that object, essentially marking it as theirs.
Rabbits also mark their scent through their droppings, urine, and licking.
Being clean
Rabbits are very clean animals, and they will spend a lot of time grooming themselves. They donโt like your greasy or dirty hand on their fur, and their breath or body doesnโt release any bad odors noticeable to a human nose.
Exploring
Rabbits are curious creatures, and they love having the chance to explore new places and run around.
Make sure to provide your bunny a large enough space to run around and satisfy their explorative nature. You can even build a nice playground area for them. Cat tunnels are great gifts for your rabbit as they simulate their tunnels and burrowing systems.
A good massage
Studies have shown that petting is beneficial to the health of both you and your bunny. Petting your bunny decreases their heart rate, and increases a happy molecule in them called serotonin.
The best places to pet rabbits are their forehead and behind their ears. They also love getting strokes down their back or around the shoulders.
Socialization
Rabbits are highly social animals. In the wild, they live in large colonies that have intricate rules and hierarchies. As pets, they still have these social instincts, and they love to spend time with the other members of the household.
Fresh hay
Itโs important to give your rabbit high quality hay. It needs to smell nice and be dust free. Fresh and greenish hay is better than brown hay.
Be careful of some bagged hay from pet shops. Many have not had the dust extracted.
Being active
Rabbits are very active and energetic animals. Their bodies were built to run fast so that they can escape from predators. To maintain their health, pet rabbits need a lot of space and time to exercise.
Eating their Cecotropes
Have you ever caught your rabbit doing this? Well, your bunny is eating their cecotropes, which are soft feces that are nutrient-rich.
When your bunny appears to be bathing their belly and they come up chewing, they are actually eating a cecal pellet. It is from these cecal pellets that rabbits get the majority of their nutrition.
Itโs important that you as a loving pet parent respect your rabbitโs nature. So, if your rabbit eats their own droppings, let them, as preventing them from their own nature can cause anxiety and confusion.
A little sunshine
Recent research suggests that sunlight is important for a rabbitโs health. It helps them get their vitamin D, which keeps their bones and teeth healthy.
If your rabbit is stuck in sunshine for long periods, they will overheat and suffer from heatstroke which can be life threatening.
Being with you
Rabbits might be in just a small part of our lives, but to them, we are their whole life. They appreciate you and try to show their affection in many ways. Spending time with them will make them happy, and will lead to a longer-lasting and trusting relationship. Make sure not to isolate yourself from your rabbit.
#2. Digging some dirt
Rabbits love to dig. In the wild, they dig holes for shelter, for maternal reasons, to create warrens, to hide from predators, and to regulate their temperature. And beyond instincts, bunnies also dig for fun. It helps them let off some energy.
While rabbits in the wild dig all the time, pet rabbits rarely have the opportunity to. Luckily, you can fill a container or cardboard box with dirt so your rabbit can dig in. A digging box is one of the best free toys you can make for your little pet.

Bunnies rule the small Japanese island of Okunoshima. The rabbit population has exploded from only five individual bunnies introduced to the island in the 1960's. An incredible reproduction rate, lack of natural predators and tourists eager to feed the hopping furballs have allowed the population to multiply with stunning speed. | http://science.discovery.com/t....v-shows/outrageous-a

In this video, weโll discuss the top 15 things that rabbits hate and you should avoid.
High Temperatures
Rabbits prefer temperatures of about 60โ65 degrees Fahrenheit. And temperatures above 85 degrees Fahrenheit are hazardous to domesticated bunnies.
In fact, rabbits have no sweat glands. They can exhaust excess heat only through their long ears. Make sure to construct a hutch to keep your bunny shaded during the heat of the day.
Certain Smells
Rabbits are prey animals. In order to survive, theyโve had to develop an incredibly keen sense of smell to know when a predator is in the area. The smell of blood or urine scares them away because they may think a predator is in the area. Bunnies also canโt tolerate the smell of crushed red peppers, ammonia, vinegar, and garlic.
Being lonely
If you see a bunny in the wild, itโs unlikely to be alone. Rabbits are very social animals who need constant companionship. They travel in pairs and large groups, protecting each other from predators.
Having nowhere to hide
It is important for bunnies to have a safe place to hide when they feel threatened or get spooked. Having nowhere to take cover, will make your bunny scared, stressed and anxious.
Socializing with predators
Outdoor rabbits face many dangers from predators. You may think itโs cute to introduce your bunny to cats or dogs, but these are predatory animals by nature and can be very frightening for your rabbit. Surprisingly enough, rabbits can die simply from the stress of hearing or smelling a predator in the area - even if they aren't attacked.
Loud Noises
Loud noises are stressful for your rabbit because they have much more sensitive hearing than humans.
The sound of fireworks, thunder, loud music, horror movies, loud vehicles, slamming doors, shouting or your vacuum cleaner can be terrifying for your rabbit.
Washing them
Rabbits are very clean animals and they almost never need a bath. Bathing your rabbit can even be harmful because they may panic and fracture their spine or a limb if they thrash around
Damp, stale dusty hay
Itโs important to give your rabbit high quality hay. It needs to smell nice and be dust free. Fresh and greenish hay is better than brown hay. Remember, hay is the most important part of a rabbit's diet as it provides the fiber necessary to keep their digestive systems healthy. Make sure to give your bunny additional hay types like Timothy and grass hays.
Rabbits should have a daily diet of mostly hay, a smaller amount of fresh vegetables, and a limited number of pellets.
Small spaces
Rabbits are social, intelligent, and highly curious animals who need to be able to explore their surroundings. In the wild, they're incredibly active, and love to run and jump.
Keeping your rabbit in tiny cages is unkind and can cause a range of health problems such as obesity, depression
Roughhousing
Children are unpredictable and impulsive. They can sometimes agitate or frighten a rabbit.
Young children should be introduced to bunnies in a calm and peaceful manner, carefully letting the bunny gets close to them at the rabbitโs own will.
Riding in a car
Rabbits hate car rides because a car is an unfamiliar environment, filled with strange noises and weird smells. And remember, bunnies hate being outside of their known environment. When they are in a moving vehicle, they get anxious and even tremble with small, fast tremors.
Being picked up
Bunnies are very skittish animals and it takes a while for most rabbits to trust their human. That doesn't mean they donโt like you. Itโs just that they are prey animals and they don't know if you are going to eat them or not! Remember to be patient and let your rabbit come to you first. If they sniff or nudge you with their nose, do not move away.
Petting their behind
Rabbits donโt like being touched on their back, stomach or tail. This is because they feel they are being preyed upon from behind.
Rabbits tend to love their ears, nose and cheeks to be stroked.
A home full of urine and droppings
Rabbits are very clean animals and they appreciate a clean, nice home. Dirty smelly homes will depress your pet and will attract flies.
Dressing your rabbit
rabbit hate being dresses up
Chasing After Them
Although chasing after your rabbit may seem all fun and games from your perspective, it can be devastating for your rabbit.
When chased around, rabbits get frightened and their heart rate could skyrocket.
A high traffic environment
Rabbits can get anxious and startled if they are kept in a high traffic part of your house. Like where many people and young children are constantly walking around. Itโs important to avoid suddenly reaching out and touching your pet. A rabbit that doesnโt feel safe in their home environment will be in constant fear and anxiety.
Belly Rubs
A bunnyโs stomach is a very sensitive part of their body. rabbits hate being touched on their belly area.
